A team in America have invented a new robotic traffic bollard that can move itself around into formation. Since they can be controlled via a laptop with sat-nav, expect to see them get hacked to block the path of police pursuing bad guys down a motorway near you.

Every so often an auction appears on Ebay that defies belief. And quite often they're to do with ex-wives - remember the guy with his ex-wives Beanie Baby collection? He attained international stardom! Well here is a guy who is selling his ex-wives wedding dress. The story is wonderful, the photographs even better (tattooed trucker in a dress), and the buyer response... simply incredible (over 3.5 million hits)! There's only about 5 hours of bidding left so if you've got over $15,000 to throw at the wedding dress of your dreams then hurry up!

How good an idea is this - in this age of corporations bemoaning and insulting music fans, few bands have had the cojones to go against the grain and do something different (Grateful Dead, Pearl Jam etc) but the Pixies have enlisted DiscLive to record their shows and press up the cds in a truck outside the venue. 1000 copies are pressed and any not sold on the night get sold on the web. The quality is superb as it's straight from the mixing desk. Anyone fancy setting up a UK franchise?

Hey Crackhead! is a short essay written out of frustration by a man who keeps having his sparkplugs nicked by crackheads. It's the sound of D-Fens slowly bubbling away before going postal.

Interactive lightshow in Dublin
As part of the celebrations of Eire being president of the EU in 2004, they've launched an interactive lightshow that you can send your own designs to. It's very impressive stuff although you can only hope that your design gets played at nighttime so that you can actually see the results of your work as it's fairly pointless in daytime. Technically, it's very cool especially the 3d walkthrough of Dublin that you can see when you go to submit your design.

I managed to waste a while on this Sci-Fi themed anagram game that anistropia pointed me to. It's quite addictive.

Pixies Live, 2004
That most excellent of bands, the Pixies have finally reformed and started their world tour. The setlists played every night are being recorded on that link and the torrent files for BitTorrent are available on the page too so you can download and hear the gigs - I've just heard the gig from Vancouver on the 23rd April and it sounds as good as ever. THE VIRTUAL AUTOPSY
Leicester University have a cool, if slightly morbid, Virtual Autopsy tool on their site - handy if your bag is interactive cadavers (which it probably is for our readers).

The Exhilarator
Take a stack of old one-cell comics and separate the punchlines from the picture then jumble them around in the exhilarator and see what comes out. The results can be funny, surreal or plain worrying - reload many times for best results.

Rock'n'Roll Minor Planets
From the days of Gustav Holst, astronomy has been closely linked with music (stay with me here). What's not as well known are the multituse of minor planets named after Rock'n'Roll stars.
