300 Images From 1800 Sites
Ro London has been busy coillecting icons from Fortune 1000 company sites. The resulting
300 Images From 1800 Sites is a short but interesting article - certainly of use to web designers.

Horsemirrors
Horsemirrors - it's so obvious you wonder why no-one's invented them before.
Operation Take One For The Country
I know this is a few days old now but it seems many of you haven't yet heard about Operation
Take One For The Country - a bunch of sex-crazed ladies have clubbed together to provide a 'going-away' present for American soldiers who are being shipped off to Iraq. At least it's less morally dubious than the war itself.
eBay item 4165376692
Following the post 'Ebay Item
4146756343' of Weds, April 28, 2004... I give you.... (drum roll) Ebay Item .
4165376692! As predicted, right here in these very pages... a legend is born!
Eclectic Method
Godlike-bootleg mashing VJ-ers
Eclectic Method are starting a new residency at Herbal in London. If you are in London and want a different kind of night out, the kind that you can't quite describe to your friends that next day, then pop along. Starts 6th May.

Punk Rock Baby
I guess this must have been blogged before at some point - but I've just been titilated by an excerpt from
'Smells Like Teen Spirit' done in the lullaby style! Check out
the rest of the site.
Stupid Pet Costumes
Dressing up is a fun thing for humans to do - if they want to make themselves look stupid then it's their own choice -
Pets, however, don't have any say in the matter. Go have a laugh at these outfits - I especially liked the aptly named
poufbunny dog.
(from the same site, is
this really supposed to be a woman? Let's just hope it's a really bad photo!)
Robotic bollards to control our roads
A team in America have invented a new robotic
traffic bollard that can move itself around into formation. Since they can be controlled via a laptop with sat-nav, expect to see them get hacked to block the path of police pursuing bad guys down a motorway near you.

Ebay Item 4146756343
Every so often an auction appears on Ebay that defies belief. And quite often they're to do with ex-wives - remember the guy with his ex-wives Beanie Baby collection? He attained international stardom! Well
here is a guy who is selling his ex-wives wedding dress. The story is wonderful, the photographs even better (tattooed trucker in a dress), and the buyer response... simply incredible (over 3.5 million hits)! There's only about 5 hours of bidding left so if you've got over $15,000 to throw at the wedding dress of your dreams then hurry up!
Star Wars Kid Videos
Since Grom posted the Star Wars Kid blog a couple of hours ago, I stumbled across
this lovely archive of 'fat kid with light sabre' footage and derivations thereof.
Happy Tree Friends
We first posted about the sick web cartoon 'Happy Tree Friends' over a year ago but it's since made the jump onto tv (MTV2 in the UK). If you still haven't caught any episodes then here's
every episode on one page for yoru convenience. Don't try this at home kids.
Vintage Boombox and Ghetto Blaster Museum
Boom-Boxes, Beat-Boxes or ghetto-Blasters - whatever you call them, they were essential if you wanted to be taken seriously as a b-boy in the 80's. The
Vintage Boombox and Ghetto Blaster Museum chronicles all of these including rare examples featuring integrated keyboards and tvs.
Star Wars Kid versus Kill Bill
Boingboing have mention of a new video mash-up of the chubby 'Star Wars Kid' (remember him?) spliced into the
Kill Bill trailer. Poor quality but funny all the same.
The Ancient Art of Wok Boarding
The ancient art of
Wok Boarding can be seen in this video - these guys seem to have missed out the part about going down hills and have gone for a much more urban surrounding of travelators. I pity the fool who attempted the old-style escalator though!
What really happens in chat rooms
It's common knowledge what happens in chat rooms but finally I can provide you with
photographic evidence. Mind you, it's obvious she's a sucker since she's using a Mac and either the photo's been flipped or her keyboard is upside down
(I know, I know, I have far too much time on my hands)

Naughty Automata
I've loved clockwork and mechanical models since I was a wee nipper but now I've grown up and so have
mechanical models - here's a collection of paper models doing 'live sex acts' amongst other 'scenes'. The animated gifs for each model are hilarious - be sure to check out the Mr & Mrs ones.
The Israeli Young Nudist's Society
There are so many jokes I could make about this page but they'd all be in bad taste and not pretty to look at - much like the
The Israeli Young Nudist's Society. Features photos of massed groups of naked people (so NSFW).
DiscLive - Bring Home The Excitement
How good an idea is this - in this age of corporations bemoaning and insulting music fans, few bands have had the cojones to go against the grain and do something different (Grateful Dead, Pearl Jam etc) but the Pixies have enlisted
DiscLive to record their shows and press up the cds in a truck outside the venue. 1000 copies are pressed and any not sold on the night get sold on the web. The quality is superb as it's straight from the mixing desk. Anyone fancy setting up a UK franchise?

Hey Crackhead
Hey Crackhead! is a short essay written out of frustration by a man who keeps having his sparkplugs nicked by crackheads. It's the sound of
D-Fens slowly bubbling away before going postal.
Interactive lightshow in Dublin
As part of the celebrations of Eire being president of the EU in 2004, they've launched an
interactive lightshow that you can send your own designs to. It's very impressive stuff although you can only hope that your design gets played at nighttime so that you can actually see the results of your work as it's fairly pointless in daytime. Technically, it's very cool especially the
3d walkthrough of Dublin that you can see when you go to submit your design.
Science Fiction Word Game
I managed to waste a while on this Sci-Fi themed
anagram game that anistropia pointed me to. It's quite addictive.
Mona Lisa Smile/Grimace/Gurn
Proof that the Mona Lisa isn't just a
miserable cow - she can even look surprised. or angry. or confused.
Pixies Live, 2004
That most excellent of bands, the
Pixies have finally reformed and started their world tour. The setlists played every night are being recorded on that link and the torrent files for
BitTorrent are available on the page too so you can download and hear the gigs - I've just heard the gig from Vancouver on the 23rd April and it sounds as good as ever. More details
available here including details of the forthcoming best-of album.
THE VIRTUAL AUTOPSY
Leicester University have a cool, if slightly morbid,
Virtual Autopsy tool on their site - handy if your bag is interactive cadavers (which it probably is for our readers).
The Exhilarator
Take a stack of old one-cell comics and separate the punchlines from the picture then jumble them around in the
exhilarator and see what comes out. The results can be funny, surreal or plain worrying - reload many times for best results.
Rock'n'Roll Minor Planets
From the days of Gustav Holst, astronomy has been closely linked with music (stay with me here). What's not as well known are the multituse of minor planets named after
Rock'n'Roll stars. This page gives an idea of the sort of music that scientists listen to and personally I can't wait for an episode of Star Trek to include a visit to the planet
Zappafrank to see what the inhabitants would look like.
